The Mini Lop

Not quite the delicate little rabbit you might expect.  Thickset and well muscled.  The shoulders are almost as wide as the hind-quarters. The head should appear massive and in proportion to the body.  Because the head is held high, the lop ears do not fall to the ground.  Ears should extend no more than 1 inch (2.5cm) below the jaw line.  The mini lop has a strongly defined crown ridge of cartilage and dense fur.

BRC Description

Bold thickset and firm. The body should be short, broad and well muscled with little visible neck. The well muscled rump is short and well rounded. The chest is broad and deep with curved sides where it meets the shoulders which are broad and strong. The front legs are thick, short and straight. The hind legs are short, strong, powerful and carried parallel to the body. The tail is straight, strong and well furred.

The coat should be dense and of good length, roll-back with an abundance of guard hairs. Legs and pads to be well furred.

The head is bold, broad and well developed. The profile of the head is strongly curved with a good width between the eyes, full cheeks and a broad muzzle. The eyes are bold, bright and large. The basal ridge of the ears should appear prominent across the top of the skull to form the crown.

Ears should be broad, thick, well furred and rounded at the ends. They should be carried close to the cheeks giving a horse-shoe like outline when viewed from the front. The inside of the ears should not be visible from any angle when carried correctly. 

FAULTS:

Body too long; head not sufficiently characteristic of the breed; pimpled or damaged ears; poor ear carriage; ears folded; crown not developed; fly back coat; large dewlaps in does; rear feet not parallel to the body; crooked tail.

 

The Dwarf Lop

Heavily muscled and compact. The shoulders are broad and deep and rise to slightly heavier hind-quarters  The ears are well placed on top of the head and fall close to the cheeks.  The outline of the crown and head is said to form a horse shoe shape.  The coat should be dense with a good roll-back.

 

BRC Description       

Short body with well rounded loins. Deep chest and wide shoulders, giving a cobby well muscled appearance. Short strong legs. Well developed head particularly in bucks. Good width between eyes. Full cheeks and broad muzzle are desirable.

 

The basal ridge of the ears (crown) should appear prominent across the top of the skull.

 

Broad ears, thick well furred and rounded at ends. They should be carried close to the cheeks giving a horse-shoe like outline when viewed from the front. The inside of the ears should not be visible from any angle when carried correctly. The ears are not measured.

 

Round bright eyes.

FAULTS

Narrow shoulders, long in body, narrow head. Ears carried back or not fully lopped. Coat too short or fly-back. Excessive white hairs or white nails in coloured exhibits. Light or white tails in sooties.Putty nose. An abundance of Guard Hairs.
